| Guaranteed Paydays With most of
today's football programs eager to bring in additional revenue,
guarantee games are becoming more and more popular. In this
arrangement, a host school guarantees its opponent a certain sum of
money for being the visitor, instead of offering a home-and-home series
(when both opponents play host to each other). These sums range
considerably. Robert Zullo, PhD, a faculty member of the Sport
Administration Program at Mississippi State University, has compiled
the following list of recent and future guarantee games. He drew the amounts of each from
published reports. Zullo examines the broader topic of scheduling an
NCAA Division I football team in the August/September 2005
issue of Athletic Management.
